Life in modern city truly causes a lot of nuisances. Firstly, citizens have to deal with traffic congestion every day. This problem is even worse in the rush hour when so many people run out to work and are stuck on the streets for hours. Next, high cost of living is also a serious issue in the city, especially in metropolitan cities. More and more people find it difficult to live on their modest salaries when prices are going up and up all the time. Financial pressure makes city dwellers become constantly stressed and tired. Finally, the polluted air caused by exhaust emission from millions of vehicles, construction dust and the lack of green trees negatively affect residents health. Many people suffer from respiratory problems such as cough, sore throat or asthma. Indeed, city life brings a number of difficulties as well as challenges to its citizens.

Listening transcript:
Seoul is the largest city in South Korea as well as the political and economic capital. Administratively, Seoul is divided into 25 districts, each with an area and population comparable to a small city. The districts are then further subdivided into 522 sub-districts.. The city houses 11.8 million people, and the metropolitan area has 25.6 million, which is just over half of the population of South Korea. By some measures it is the world's second largest urban agglomeration, after Tokyo. Seoul as the capital city of Korea has a history back to the 14th century. While few historical points of interest remain (most of the temples and palaces are reconstructions), much of Seoul's infrastructure is exceptionally modern and clean. Skyscrapers and high rises abound. The subway system is the third-largest in the world and perhaps one of the finest. In recent years,, Seoul has been swamped with tourists from China, Japan, and Southeast Asia, following the success of Korean pop culture. There are a lot of see and do here. There are 9 big parks in the city, with a lot of temples and shrines. Coming here, you can go skiing, gamble on horse races and go to a casino, and enjoy performing arts. There are also a lot of spas, saunas and massage rooms for you to relax.
